Located on the West side of the river, bounded by the A30, the river Exe, the lower part of Alphington Road and Cowick Barton Playing Fields. The city centre end of Alphington includes Haven Banks and the Quayside (see area guide). At the opposite end, there is easy access to the A379 to Plymouth or Dawlish. As well as residential areas, Alphington also includes Matford and Marsh Barton making it a good choice for those working in these areas.
The majority of housing in Alphington comprises modern, 3 bed semi-detached houses. However, there are also pockets of older cottages scattered around (e.g. Midway Terrace, Chudleigh Road), and some modern bungalows (e.g Myrtle Close).
