Haven Banks comprises the area between Water Lane and the west bank of the River Exe, it has a mixture of residential and commercial premises including cafes, restaurants, pubs and leisure activities. On a warm day there is always a buzz around the Piazza Terracina due to the number of pavement café’s. It is an ideal location for those looking for all the advantages of a waterside location and continental style café culture whilst still being within walking distance of the city centre.
The Quayside can be found on the east side of the river bordering St Leonards. Many of the historic warehouses have been converted into artisan shops, cafes and workshops which are well worth exploring, along with a number of pubs, cafes and an antique centre in the old Transit shed.
Due to the waterside location and proximity to the historic quayside and the City Centre, properties in this area attract a premium price. Haven Banks has a number of modern, purpose built developments including Waterside (a gated community with a mix of houses and apartments), Compass Quay (flats) and Maritime Court (flats and houses). On the Quayside, there are just a few residential properties in the purpose built development at Clipper Quay. Colleton Hill and Weirfield Road lead off the Quay towards St Leonards and feature older terraces which are highly sought after. Both Alphington Road and Topsham Road can get very congested at peak times, but both offer a frequent bus service and access to the City Centre, A30, M5 and A38.
